A variation of the sarma (pistachio roll), it is made with a single layer of phyllo dough and filled with ground pistachios. Shaped like the turban of a sultan, and served only to royals in the days of the Ottoman Empire, it is aptly named the Sultan’s Roll.

*While normal baklava is usually made with a simple walnut, hazelnut or pistachio content, pistachio padishah baklava has a richer filling by using plenty of pistachios.

*While pistachio padishah baklava offers a more intense and soft flavor with the creamy texture and aroma of pistachios, normal baklava gives a crispier and lighter taste.

*Pistachio padishah baklava is usually presented in a more showy and meticulous way with its round appearance, and a visually richer appearance is achieved with pistachios sprinkled thinly on top.
